Disability Support Worker

Job tasks and responsibilities:  

We are seeking an experienced Support workers to join our team who want to make a difference by supporting our participants in achieving their goals. This involves assisting and encouraging clients to engage in a variety of daily activities depending on their hobbies, interests, and aspirations as outlined in their NDIS support plans. You will be respectful of their culture, privacy, and dignity while executing the tasks of this role.

Sevices that you will be expected to undertake include Personal Care, Community Access, transportation, cooking, domestic assistance and companionship. If you are a person who is cheerful, enthusiastic, has experience with person-centred approaches and are highly passionate in making a difference in people’s lives then this role is for you.

The successful applicants will have:

  • Certificate three in individual support or Certificate four in disability qualification of the same level or higher.
  • Current First Aid/ CPR Qualifications
  • Medication Competency Qualifications
  • Manual Handling Certification
  • NDIS Workers Screening Clearance
  • Any relevant certifications such as an Accredited Diabetes Training, Epilepsy Training etc.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to liaise with a wide range of clients from diverse social, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of Clients and proven customer service orientation.
  • Current drivers’ license and reliable motor vehicle (vehicle registered and comprehensively insured).
  • Commitment to providing environmental and household assistance to clients in multiple areas of need including personal hygiene, grooming and physical movement, social participation.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage time.
  • Proficient in use of electronic technology including smart phones, handheld devices, email and internet.
