Personal Care
Personal care supports relate to assistance with daily personal activities including assistance with, or supervision of, personal tasks of daily life. Personal care supports may be required across a variety of settings. For example, a participant living alone in their own home, in one one of our Supported Independent Living (SIL) properties, our medium term accommodation, our short-term accommodation, living with family or other people, or on holidays away from home.
Before including any personal care support in a participant’s plan, the NDIA must,amongst other matters, be satisfied that the support will assist the participant to pursue their goals. objectives and aspirations (section 34(1)(a)).
- Mobility Support – hoist transfers, getting in and out of bed
- Dressing Support
- Showering Support
- Toileting, bladder and bowel management, menstrual care
- Personal Grooming – help with shaving, applying makeup and hair care
- Light Domestic Tasks
- Assistance with Meals
- Eating and Drinking
- Use of aids and appliances, hearing and communication devices
- Attending appointments
