About the NDIS

What is the NDIS?

The NDIS gives participants direct access to funding, helping them build independence, gain new skills, find work, and engage with their communities. It also eases the pressure on families by reducing hands-on care, allowing for more quality time together. Since its rollout began in 2016 and completed nationally in 2022, the NDIS has supported nearly 600,000 people and created over 270,000 jobs. It has also delivered strong economic benefits, with every $1 invested returning $2.25 to local communities. While the system has room for improvement, the NDIS continues to grow and make a real difference in the lives of Australians with disability.
Are you eligible?

The NDIS is for Australians under 65 years old, who have a permanent and significant disability. Disabilities may include intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive, and psychosocial.
You do not need a referral. To see if you are eligible for the NDIS, please visit www.ndis.gov.au or call 1800 800 110.

Funded Supports

Supports the NDIS pay for a participant’s plan. These supports must be reasonable and necessary. Anything which is related to your disability is a reasonable and necessary support under the NDIS. This can involve not just the basics like mobility equipment and therapeutic support, but support with transport, doing daily tasks, home modification, education, social participation and more.

Types of Supports and Pricing under NDIS

Informal Supports

Alongside funded supports, informal supports play a big role in many participants’ lives. These are the everyday help and encouragement people receive from family, friends, neighbours, and others in their community. Whether it’s getting a lift to an appointment, help with groceries, emotional support, or just someone to talk to — these connections are incredibly valuable.

The NDIS doesn’t replace informal supports, but it works alongside them, easing the pressure by providing the right funded services so that loved ones can focus more on relationships, not just care duties. Together, informal and formal supports create a more balanced, sustainable support network for participants

Funded Supports

The NDIS funds supports that are reasonable and necessary and directly related to your disability. This can include things like wheelchairs or mobility aids, physiotherapy, assistance with cooking or cleaning, transport to appointments, home modifications (like ramps), or help joining social groups, sports, or even education and work programs — all designed to help you live more independently and participate fully in everyday life.

Fees

I-Help Disability Services is a registered NDIS provider and therefore is required to charge as per the NDIS price guide. Visit https://www.ndis.gov.au/providers/price-guides-and-pricing for NDIS price guide.
