NDIA changing Early Child Intervention from under 7 y/o to under 9 y/o | I-Help Disability Services

NDIA Changing Early Childhood Intervention

The NDIA has announced that from 1 July 2023, the age of children supported under the early childhood intervention will change, from 7 years of aged and younger to include children younger than 9.

Increasing the age to cover children under the age of nine guarantees that children and their families receive assistance throughout and after the transition to primary school.

Children who are current NDIS participants that turn 7 before July 1, will continue to be transitioned to a local area coordinator, as that is the existing approach.

The NDIS eligibility conditions and the definition of developmental delay under the early intervention requirements remain unchanged.
